You did, I was just backin' ya up, Homie. [IMG] I'd like to point out that all of Amtrak's express euipment is "Passenger speed rated" and thus isn't concidered "freight equipment". They have run the roadrailers well over 90+ mph out at the DOT testing grounds. I think we sometimes forget about the express businesses of the past. Many "passenger" trains carried whole blocks of express box cars at the headend and ran at passenger train speeds. Why should it be any different today? It shouldn't...

Well I did find out that if Amtrak is carrying certain typs of freight (mainly empties) they would be required to slow down to the speed rating of that particular freight car in their consist for the line they were operating on. Otherwise they could get into some trouble with the FRA for not adhering to proper speeds when running a mixed consist. (darn I can't think of the term the RR used for "mixed consist", but they have another name for it and I just heard it for the first time yesterday - Saturday 5/6/2000 and can't recall what it was. Arrrgggh!)

We're getting a little off the subject of the new guarantee aren't we. To get back I'd just like to say I support the new program & just hope Amtrak can bring up the level of service to make the guarantee possible. BTW Amtrak does have the fine print clauses if you look at the guarantee on the Starlight. I have noticed a great improvement over the last several years from all Amtrak employees as far as customer service is concerned. I hope they keep up the good work, there's still room for improvement. Reggie

Well I think were down to 50 some days now till the new service guarantee. The guide lines for the new policy are not like the Starlight. Also we've been told there are no guide lines as of yet or plan to be. At least none they have told their employees about.
Also I've started another thread about the illustrious express service on Amtrak so any further thoughts about that please post there.
