THREE numbers for the NP GP-9's? Oh I need to go stash $300 now.... and it loks liek those Atlas Master GP9's have window edge detailing and more prototype sidesill holes etc.... picture is crappola but it'll be on their site soon at a higher resolution I am sure! This just made my day
Anyone know if Atlas is planning on using a new full function decoder in their DCC units ? I'm not too happy paying the money they are asking, for an old decoder. Thanks, Keith.
Keith, Get the DCC-ready units and install an after-market Digitrax or TCS board. The Digitrax board is the DN163A2; the TCS is the ASD4. Installation takes 10 minutes. I've found that the combination of the street price on DCC-ready units plus the street price of the decoder boards is no more (sometimes less) $$ than getting the DCC-installed versions. John C.
Well,in all fairness, where are the HO Scale Atlas GP7's?? Considering that HO is the most popular of all the scales, we sometimes seem to get the short end of the stick on certain road names!!!
I purchased 3 Digitrax DN163A2 decoders for a new Atlas GP30 and 2 Atlas GP7s. latest Atlas releases. The decoder was to wide and held the frame wider at the top. This would not allow the body to fit without using a hammer. I measured both, and the decoder was almost 30ths wider. You need to file the middle of the board down to get it narrow enough for the body to fit correctly. If you do this be very careful you don't remove a circut board trace or the board will not work. I just received 3 new Atlas GP35s and purchased the new TCS ASD4 and they fit perfect, no filing.
