New Freight Car from FVM

    Hello Everyone,

    Fox Valley Models is proud to announce our entry into N scale freight cars today with the FMC 5347 CuFt Single Door boxcar. This car features all new tooling, etched metal end cross walks, a simplified underframe with holes for body mounting couplers and Micro Trains truck and couplers with low profile wheels. Cars will be available starting in Sep with new schemes arriving on a monthly basis. The first six roads will be:

    FVM8001 Port Huron & Detroit, FVM8003 Maine Central, FVM8005 Toldeo, Peoria & Western, FVM8006 Bath and Hammondsport, FVM8007 The Bay Line, FVM8009 Savannah State Docks

    All will be available in 4 road numbers and the list price is $13.95 ea.

    Many, many more schemes will be offered on this car. If you have a favorite, please feel free to request it. Check out the website for artwork, photos and more details on these new cars.

    Ray they (including photos) are on our website.

    The term modern is a subjective one. IMO these qualify as modern boxcars as they are produced w/o runningboards. Adding to that I have seen them in person on mainline trains in the last 2 years.

    The second car, the 5283 cuft will be posted in about an hour.

    I've seen GP40s and SD40s running on the mainline in the last month... that doesn't make them modern ;)

    I was poking at your comment about modern cars and peaked roofs... due to plate clearances, any boxcar over Plate C (read modern) won't have a peaked roof.
