New Etched Metal Autorack Panels

    Just to spread the word, Plano Models is releasing etched autorack panels in two different styles for ConCor's autoracks. Unlike some panels that are already available, these have the corrugation stamped in them (like the real thing) and not etched in them.

    Below are pictures of a model which I used them on. You pop off the plastic ones ConCor uses, paint the back ground black or white (or cut it out), glue small strips of plastic (supplied) on either side of the opening to support the new metal panel and simple glue the panel onto them.

    I also lowered the car and put the trucks in the correct place (farther in). The couplers were also set un in the body a bit more to counter act the lowering of the car.

    I also had to mill out the frame to allow the trucks to work properly. This car will end up getting Z scale couplers, but I didn't have any one hand and wanted to see what it would look like when completed.

    That sure makes for a heck of an autorack, beautiful work!

    Once you go Z, you never go back. = )

    WOW! I never thought of putting Z couplers on N scale cars. Have you done this before? How do they look?
