I am trying to gauge whether there any efforts underway to get a book written and published on Sumpter Valley Railway for consumption by the general public, and, if there are any efforts, how far along they are or how serious they are.

It is my understanding that Mallory Ferrell's book was last printed in 1978 and that's pretty much it. I cannot find any current books.

If there are no books and no efforts, I am considering doing the legwork to get one done in the next six months, something with lots of historic photos and something about present-day operations. I do NOT want to step on anyone else's toes, but on the other hand I want to see another book on the line before we all die. It's a worthy road and a worthy topic for a book, and I think it could sell well. If the out of print book is fetching $40+ dollars per copy it sounds like there is a market out there.

Feel free to PM me if you are trying to remain circumspect or don't want to blow your cover.

    Adam
