You are correct! Asking around, I am told that both new name, and new imaging took effect today. Boxcab E50
Ha ha! They kept the ugly colors. It would have been cool if they picked NP Passenger colors, or even the BN colors, but pumpkin?
Might it be nice to see new anniversary 'tribute' schemes to honor the predecessors? See a newly painted Warbonnet, or a Blackbird?
The new logo is ugly. It even looks like they Photoshopped it at the last minute... oh yeah... we need to do a new logo, quick, do a wedge thing and paste it on. I hope it looks better in person. I'm really starting to like the Vomit Bonnet! [ 25. January 2005, 01:10: Message edited by: SD70BNSF ]

Chris, I agree, that looks heavily photoshopped! I can't say I like the look at the moment, but i'll hold off till I see a pic of a real unit in it! Maybe it'll look a bit better.....maybe.... Shame, the old Santa Fe circle cross is apparently finally dead.
I do not like the new logo on the nose...the circle cross was a much better fit. Although I suppose it doesn't matter as long as they keep that awful color scheme. Jim
Heritage 1 scheme is nice, but I think it will look funny with the new logo. H2 may look OK, but time will tell. If they need a fresh image, why not a new paint scheme totally redone?
I've seen that paint scheme before Jeremy, I just didn't know it's official name. But it sure is a heck of a lot better than what Heritage II is turning into! I completely agree with SFJim, that logo on the front just doesn't fit at all. When I first was getting back into the hobby, I was trying to study the differences in H1 vs. H2 schemes. The letters when from dark to bright yellow, and I thought that made all the difference in making H2 a much better scheme. Of course I'm all for the cigar band on the front too.
OK. Amazing that I've been in the hobby since the 1950's. And have never previously heard the term. Insofar as the new scheme= More of the same unimaginative, lazy modern corporate stuff. No connection to the operating region. The public will wonder what the heck is a "BNSF Railway." Boxcab E50
If you go out to www.railnews1.com/bnsf.html , You can see what the new scheme looks like. Not to impressed right now. Need to change the lettering color
Leave it to me to be the only one...but, I LIKE it! Its very "race-car" like. Kinda cool! I can't wait to see it live. Bob
I'm not at all impressed-especially since the Santa Fe "cross" logo will now be history. The next step will be painting a UPC barcode label on each locomotive in lieu of a logo, and paint the diesels white with minimal black trim. Viola- GenericRail! BRING BACK THE COONSKIN!
After looking at the engine more I kind of like the new logo. The sides look good to me but I think it is the nose of the engine that needs work done to it.It looks to plain jane and needs some sprucing up.Maybe the Frisco logo like in E-8 avatar but with BNSF in the middle on the front.Hmmmmmmm.......
