I wouldn't be sorry if I was you. We still have this interesting little thread going about an otherwise obscure locomotive manufacturer that many have not ever encountered!

Yeah I don't see that they can be any worse than an SW1500 ... which is basically what the dang thing is. Too bad they won't sell many. Who wants one when you can buy an SD40-2 for $20k? Just a few switcher heavy shortlines and terminal roads needing dimensionally small power.

The genisis of these unts is actually with the Class 1s. Santa Fe and UP each bought a pair of MK1200Gs for use in the LA area with its stringent smog restrictions. The units use a specially modified Caterpillar prime mover burning Natural gas which emits a very low level of pollutants. After their expierience with the 1200Gs in LA, BNSF bought a dozen or so MP1500 or MP2000s for the Port Terminal Ry Association in Houston. The New Orleans Public Belt and several other mostly southern shortlines also operate these unique units. I've been hoping for a model of them in HO ever since I first saw a drawing of them. Yeah, I still have my fingers crossed.

Abcraghead- Welcome aboard! I hope that you enjoy your stay here!

All- I thing that it looks like an MP15 with a nose on the rear. As a lover of switchers I still think that it is great!

    Happy Railroading!
