Hey guys, I got into another scratch build and I am in need of a few N scvale brake wheels... Nothing special though basic everyday "El-Cheapo's". Anyone have a few? I sure could use them! TIA....
Usually like hen's teeth, John. I know I have more than a few broken brake wheels of various manufacture. I find it worth having a pack of MTL's 1188 (?) horizontal brake wheels on hand... if you can get hold of them. They look better than 99% of anyone else's anyway. Gary.
GATS, I'm going to use them on a kitbash/scratchbuild. I'm making a water tower thats got a connected water bridge that has pipes and all with valves. all the pipe work is custom by me and all for HO scale. The valves need a knob and all to represent a shut off valve... Thats what I need a basic N scale brake wheel. For instance, old Bachman or Life-Like, even Atlas.... It really doesn't matter on the manufacturer. As long as their small and N scale. They'll do the trick! If you got any of the junk, old ones that are basic in the R-T-R stuff let me know I'd be greatfull for them! My e-mail address is yellowstone10@hotmail.com I'll be in touch with anyone that has them ASAP.... TIA
Right now, the count is 10. A dozen would do for a start on another water plug i'm going to build for another section of my layout. But for a start, I could handle a few right now to get the pipe work up and completed... Mopac, if you have any please e-mail me with a count at yellowstone10@hotmail.com I sure can use at least 6 total at the moment.... [ 17 December 2001: Message edited by: 7600EM_1 ]
john i can't get my email page to come up at the moment but i can spare about 20 if you could use them. they are precision masters and are still on the sprue tree, they're brown with alot of detail to them and the pin to go in the car is about the diameter of a bolster pin.
Mopac, I got your e-mail! Let me know in e-mail if you can what you may want for them! I looked at the local hobby shop and found nothing in the order of N scale brake wheels... So my last alternative is asking on the board here if anyone has any.... Let me know and all what you may want for them!
Mopac, Let me know in e-mail if you got the SASE I sent you for the N scale brake wheels! I seemed to have lost your e-mail address in my inbox and the e-mail feature here in trainboard isn't working so.... Let me know if you got it and if you may have sent them already
john i got the envelope and had tried to send them and then it got returned the next day with a sticker saying they can't send odd shaped r rigid items in a plain envelope so i have to go to the post office tomorrow and get one of their envelopes with the bubble stuff inside. it will go out tomorrow in the mail.
John, If you need any in the future, you can contact the manufacturer's directly or go through Rio Grande Hobbies. The prices are usually fairly cheap. You might actually pay more for shipping unless you order a lot of brakewheels or other parts. Let me know if you need more info
Mopac, THANKS! Let me know if I owe you anything for the "extra" shipping, I didn't think about the rigid and all on them with the evolope deal. I'll know better next time! Rgn, The information you may have now could be of good use in the future. You can e-mail the information to: yellowstone10@hotmail.com And I'll get it.... THANKS!
john dont' worry about it, leave it to the anthrax deal to cause problems with our hobby! that's what the postal guy said caused this.
I know and I should have thought about it alittle deeper and the Anthrax deal kinda slipped my mind. Anyway, I sure appreciate it!
Mopac, I got the brake wheels, I believe this past Saturday. I just haven't had alot of time to get online for awhole lot with the weather right now in PA and all.. Snow everywhere a foot deep and all... And with work and then me getting sick and now over the sickness, I can get back to my normal routine... Anyway, I was going to e-mail you, when I happened to find I didn't have your address in my address book. So I thought to tell you got them ok I'd come back to my thread and post it to say I got them and THANKS! Its much appreciated and BTW, The amount you sent is enough to probably finish both projects and to start some piping and valve work on another smaller application that i'm planing on doing after I get the 2 water bridges done. THANKS again!
john your welcome and have fun, we want to see some pics when you get going on it and the finished product.
I'll post pics when I get the water bridge and piping done. And then one when the entire project is finished. You'll have to excuse the pictures though. My camera isn't the best in focus. So... But I'll take a bunch and pick out the best ones and post them! Thanks again!
