I have been trying to find info for lettering a few 53' GSI flatcars for Rio Grande. I have found the car numbering OK, but actual lettering is hard to come by. This is what i have so far, for both the Bulkhead Flat Wallboard Car, and the General Service Flatcar: I would like to make the lettering as accurate as the prototypes, but I can't seem to find any photo's of these cars. -Thanks, Robert
Robert, that is not very nice. You know who will have to have one. Can't rememember the name. I think the name starts with a D.
This has nothing to do with nice, it has to do with getting 6 more Marklin Tank Cars, yes the illusive Marklin Tank Cars! I can only do so much research in so little time, and the summer slowdown is when I take advantage of the time to crank out trade fodder! I'm up to 3 body styles a week now. Somebody stop me! -Robert Oh, by the way, I spent 2 hours just drawing up the Rio Grande speedlettter wording. I don't have any fonts like it, so I had to draw it in Corel Vector format so it would be scaleable to different sizes easily!
Robert, all of us who model the Rio Grande are indebted to you for your time and efforts. i can scan some photos and email them to you, from publications i have. it would be my pleasure. the 53'6" bulkhead flat was a popular feature on the Grande. it will be a great boon to Grande fans and many other roads to have this car available. Thanks for all you're doing, dave f. john -- was i the "D" you were referring to? if so you ARE right! but i know Jurg and Hemi will be very glad to see these too! df
Very nice, Robert! One more ting I want, but cannot afford if I want any sort of vacation this summer... I have the Rio Grande font, all you had to do was ask... It's available if you want.
