Howdy all, I'm trying to research rosters for several interelated logging roads in Ca. They are: Pickering Standard WestSide Hetch Hetchy & Yosemite Valley Sugar Pine Yosemite Sugar Pine Yosemite Shortline, etc. along with any others in the Sonora, Standard, Tuolumne, Yosemite areas of Ca. A general family history would also be of great help. Currently I have only the roster info available on the net. Been to the Shay Locomotives site and other geared loco sites. Also steamlocomotives.com and others. Main problem is distiguishing firsts and seconds on the Pickering and ownership of HH&YV vs. Pickering vs. WestSide along with Standard vs Pickering. I've also recently joined the 4L Yahoo group and have asked for help there as well. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Oh, and any contributions of pics for any of these roads would be very cool too!!
Wish I could help. Believe there were, may still be, both Pickering and West Side Yahoo Groups. Boxcab E50
Boxcab, Excellent suggestion!!!! I've joined the Pickering, WestSide and Historic Sierra groups. Bunch of names I recognize from elsewhere there. Already got great help with the Pickering roster, now just need some on the others. Thanks!!!!
Glad the idea helped some. I remembered them, from back before my days here at TrainBoard. Looking forward to reading up here, what you gather from this research! Boxcab E50
John, There is a feller named Marc Reusser who has a website about logging called Steam in the Woods. It has information an pictures on some of the lumber companies you were wondering about.
Boxcab and all, Well, got my Pickering roster done and posted on my "P" roster page. Even have pics included where I can. Thanks goes to Jeff Moore, John Goldie, Brian Wise and Gerald French. Oh and of course to you Boxcab for the Yahoo groups idea! Next up is the West Side Lumber Co roster. I've even come up with some pics to go with it as well.
As far as I know, all the SW units are still in service where listed on the roster. If ya ever get a pic, I'd love to use it for the roster.
Whew! Finally got a working West Side Lumber roster on my site. Check it out on my "W" roster page. A few pics included as always.
