It's Z scale, but that really doesn't make too much difference. Anyhow, I want to power a live frog turnout, and use a SPDT switch to swap polarity. Can I use a single switch to swap polarity, and electically isolate the siding when the turnout is thrown for the main? Ideas? Can one switch do all that? EASILY? My electronics skill could be exhaustively chronicled on.... ...A postage stamp.
Hemi, At first I was going to tell you need to use a DPDT switch, but then I was assuming you were using a Tortoise to throw the points. You would need such a switch to throw the Tortoise and use one of the internal switches to power the frog. If you are handthrowing the turnout, you could use a a Caboose Hobbies ground throw with switch contacts. How are you throwing the turnout?
Depends also on whether the frog is insulated from the turnout blades. If not then they will attempt to power the frog as well and unless the switch is coordinated you'll get a short. Like Chris says, we need more info
