    I have a program for designing printed circuit boards, that is written in DOS. Is there someone out there that can help me fix some flaws in it. It will not print to my printer, using XP, because it can't find the drivers. The program is an old Eveluation, on 3.5 floppys. I have a lot of designs that I can't print. If you can help me, please e-mail me at santafe834@yahoo.com

    SataFe 834;

    "DOS" is an operating system. In order to know if anyone can help you, we'd need to know the programming language it was written in, i.e. Basic, C, or Pascal. Also, if this is a commercial program you may not have the source code which a programmer could modify to fix your problem. Your best bet is to contact the software vendor and see if they have a current version that will read the old data files.

    Best!

    usually the output goes to LPT1. That's the standard printer port on your computer. If your printer has a standard parallel port cable, then connect that to the computer and don't use the USB and you should be fine. if this doesn't work, then drop me a note and I'll get you there. this shouldn't be that hard to fix.

    just as a side point, I'm a hard code programmer professionally. I program in over 30 languages, so I'm sure that I can help in what you are looking to get done.

    And as the guys mentioned earlier, DOS is an operating system...like a version of Windows. It's not really a language. However, this does give a glimpse into what you are looking to get done. Drop a note here, or to my personal email, and we'll get you squared away!! Not a big problem. :)
