    Hi everyone.
I am thinking about buying the NCE CAB06 handheld controller. My question is: Can I program a loco with this? or is this just an "extra" controller and I need the regular "hammerhead" type of controller to program a loco?

Also, what are your opinions on using this controller?

    Thanks

My understanding is that its a basic function sort of thing, so it may be able to do simple stuff but it likely won't duplicate all the Hammerhead functions. Sort of like how a UT-4 can handle basic Digitrax addressing but can't CVs or anything. Or so I'm told.

You can by setting the option key to either 'program (65)' or 'program on main' (97). But you will need to know the key presses required in case it doesn't show on the screen (I use the option key set to select accy on my Cab04P). The 'hammerhead' is the best (and safest) way to program.
