Alright...I know at least one of you yahoos out there went to the convention....where the heck are some pics? Come on...you are killin me....
Are you talking about the N Scale Collector (Enthusiast) convention that was held in Hershey PA or the NMRA convention starting this next week in Sacramento?
Ryan, Since the National N Scale Convention was the one held in Hershey, PA a week or so ago, I took a few photos of the previously unannounced Trainworx trailers. I appologize for the poor quality of the photos, but at least you can get some idea of what the trailers will look like when they are finally released. Here is the 28-foot UPS style pup trailer. And here is the 40-foot Flexi-Van. The 40-foot corrugated trailer was previously announced, but this photo shows the option of mounting the reefer unit on the nose. There will be an etched metal grille for the reefer unit. Both left and right side doors have also been tooled, but whether they will be factory applied or modeler applied is still uncertain. I have another photo to upload that shows three of the pups hitched together with the unique to UPS converter dollies. Carter
Each 28-foot trailer will come with a converter dolly. The pintle hitch on a UPS trailer is positioned lower than "standard" so as delivered, the dollies will only work with the UPS trailers. Note: Some, but not all, of the Trainworx UPS style 40-foot drop frame trailers will accept the dolly hitch, so you will be able to double a 40-foot drop frame trailer with a 28-foot drop frame trailer. Carter
Carter Any idea whether Trainworx has a licensing agreement with UPS so that these beautiful looking pups might come with a logo shaped like an acorn?
Did he say when these 20' trailers will be released? Every contemporary modeler will need about a gazillion of them.
They're doing 28' pups??!! :w20z6q: Did I miss this announcement somewhere before or are they announcing them now at the show? Russ
James, Pat is working on getting a license from UPS. Steve, The tooling is complete, but Pat is waiting to see if he can get the UPS license before releasing them. He would prefer to release a decorated model rather than an undec. Russ, No official announcement until Pat finds out if he can license the UPS lettering schemes. However, Pat told me that it was OK to post the photos and see if they would generate any interest. Carter
28 footers, that's what I meant, not 20's lol. These drop frame pups are a MUST for N scale modern intermodal modelers. I hope there's not much difficulty. Athearn put them out in HO, and TW is already doing the 40' ones with the UPSZ stencil. It'd be cool if they came out and someone put the "brush" mudskirts on that're above the tires.
I would hope he'd put them out, anyhow. Those of us who'd want some can surely paint and come up with our own custom decals. Boxcab E50
I need a gazillion of those pups... And in the older paint, so grey with black lettering, don't need the logo as its way too modern for me
Yep, I could use a few dozen of those. I'd prefer a decorated release, but I'd buy undecs if he can't get the license.
Im with you Ike. I think he should do just like with the 40 footers, and MS can put out a sheet with their new emblem. I don't think he should miss out on this marketing opp just because of UP-like UPS. Put out undecs or small stencils. I need about 200. Hope he does the normal vans besides the drop frames.
Ryan, Here is a link to my pics of some of the N Trak layouts: http://s850.photobucket.com/albums/ab66/cec209/NSE%202011/ Charlie
UPS Pups!!! Like Russ says, :w20z6q: :w20z6q: :w20z6q: Woo Hoo!!!! Tell them they've generated TONS of interest from all of us 90's era intermodal modelers!!!!
The trailers did look great in person....and his flats were outstanding too! Even had retaining valve release rods!!
I agree Ken. IIRC, Frito-Lay also had some trailers VERY similar to the UPS trailers as well. I believe these are Freuhauf trailers. But I may be wrong about that. With todays computers one could easily generate his/her won decals for and slap on these. Bring them out in a basic white, with aluminum tops and side skirting with the DOT marking tape on the sides and you are set! Ryan
UPS logo I don't think any of the 28' UPS trailers had the large logo, they were being retired by the time the new logo came out. It's been a long time sense I've seen 28' drop frame UPS trailers. UPS uses straight frame 28' trailers now, the drop frame trailers were used in the 90's to the mid 2000's.
Thanks for the pics, once the trailer uproar died down a bit. For a guy modeling in the 70s with a bunch of FJ89s on order those are nice but I like the 40 ft trailer releases that are upcoming.
