Great stuff! Thanks. I mentioned it in the NG Forum to make sure it is seen as well by those looking just there. I would almost have missed it myself. Only saw it because of the title in the new posts section. What brand are the mudhen and the cars? I presume these are all not Bachmann?
Looks great, the trains look to be all Accucraft, but could be mistaken since how Bachman got into the Fn3 Narrow Gauge market big time.
Locomotive is Bachmann, boxcar is American Model Supply(Accucraft plastic), caboose is a brass Accucraft model. Set up on 10' of LGB track outside due to not having a permanent railroad at the moment... Here's some pics of my other K-27 before it blew up, with my whole 1:20 consist: http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f225/simracerworld/BachmannK27/
Gearbox warped due to manufacturing issues, the gears went out of alignment and started to slip/grind. Not surprising with an 80 pound train; the second generation K I have now(in the snow) has given me no trouble.
Outdoor running These are some great shots!!! Just the right amount of snow to look real. I can really appreciate the effort with these pictures. I ran my layout with the Christmas trains...(pics in another post)....but after that weekend......the constant snows made the "outdoor running" with snow almost impossible!!! All I would have is a very big figure 8 trench of snow!!! Not very scale like, or fun. The cold is another issue.......at -5 deg. right now, and a high of 5 today..........it isnt very enjoyable to be outside right now! lol D
I was wodering how well the Bachman K-27 would hold up. But I could no way afford the $3,000 for a Accucraft K-27. They do hold thier value though, seen a used one on ebay for $2,500. I like the AML Accucraft cars, they are reasable in price for being Accucraft, around $300 for a box of 4 cars.
Other than my gearbox issues(which I have not heard of anyone else having), I haven't had a single problem with the Ks. The gearing is a bit off(as is well known on other forums), but I can live with that for $2400 less than the Accucraft K. $300 for four? I got all four of my reefers for $220 on eBay But that achievement is slightly overshadowed by the $350 I paid for the brass caboose...
