The standard used on nearly all units that the N&W purchased new was the Leslie RS-5T-RF 5-chime horn. Following the NS merger, it is possible to have found some older N&W units with a Nathan M5-R24 5-chime horn due to replacement. Chris Toth
I have to second that. The N&W was into Leslies big time. I grew up in Portsmouth, Ohio in the 60's and 70's. Portsmouth had a lot of grade crossings and hearing those Leslies on a summer night with the windows open is something that I will never forget. They had a mournful wail to them, not a solid blat.
