Just got a reply from Broadway Limited about their msrp for their upcoming Class A 2-6-6-4. Hold on to your hats boys, this puppy will cost you about $500. I, for one, will still probably buy one, I'll just have to lie to the wife .
I just spent a small fortune on e Bay for 5 electric locomotives......all imported, all brass. Wife has been supportive.........so far. But when I hinted about eliminating the laundry room........that's when I met resistance. I reserved one of the "Broadway Ltd. Hudsons. They are not as expensive as the big articulated types.
Hey that price is pretty good in my opinion. That's $1000 less than a brass 'A'. Can't wait to see it. I hope it's on par with the Riv. Alley of Life-Like Y3s. Look at it this way...you can have two Broadway class 'A's doubleheading for the price of one Precision Scale brass 'A'...
For that price it better be as good as the latest Riv! Sound isn't that important because there are so many ways to create it for your layout, but detail and quality are not easily duplicated. If they go between $360-400 I might actually get one after a while, but it better be really nice. I have been crabbing for an "A" for quite some time, now I hope that I can afford one! It would look good with the Challenger, Y3s, Bigboy, and Allegheny on the track!
It's about time someone did a Class A other than Brass. Let's see I put my Rivarossi Y6b on the point behind it the Class A and pushing on the rear a 2-4 GP9's and I have a train ready to conquer Blue Ridge Grade in the late 50's.
Get rid of those Geeps and we're talking Eric. Just kidding. I'm fond of those Red birds though. Can't wait to see 1218 runnin' side by side to 611 on my layout. Replay of the 1987 NRHS convention...oh wait, I gotta finish my double main line.
