Not on the workbench but close to it...

Resin printer has been sitting on a shelf in the attached greenhouse for almost two years and hasn't been used :(. We get a lot of sun here in southeast Utah and it gets up to about 90 in there every day and into the 50's at night during the winter. That is great since it pretty much heats the shop but didn't think the temperature extremes would be great for printing.

When I got the mill some years ago I had something come in a plywood shipping crate. Not great plywood but worked for building a partition on each side of the mill that I could hang associated tools from. The other side has had items sitting on old metal milk crates. You can see the layout in the background.

I had enough plywood and 1 x 2's laying around that I was able to build some shelves on the back side of the partition and ...

... move the resin printer and cleaning station and other resin printing supplies to their new location I have an old sheet I cut down to cover it all (not shown). I think this is going to be a much more practical location for the printer as the temperature extremes are about 6 degrees year around. Now that I'll see it almost every day hopefully I get a guilty conscious if I don't use it and will use it.

If a year from now I still haven't used it will someone please stop by and kick me in the butt,

    Sumner

Well the last parts arrived for the new passenger power, diesel exhaust stacks. While I was waiting I went to work and added some more detailing to 2 of my Bandai passenger trains. Diesel exhausts and air horns plus some diaphragms that I made from very dense foam from the bottom of a Kato car box and parts from American Limited.

The finished TomyTec articulated passenger train along with two Bandai sets.

Now playing with the dummy chassis that came with the TomyTec to see what can be done with it. I am thinking of an articulated container flat. In the back is one of my hybrid passenger diaphragms and in back of that is the dense thin foam from the Kato box.

Well the creative juices are flowing in the man cave. Since last night I have been able to get this far on making an articulated container flat out of the dummy chassis that was under the TomyTec passenger car.

In this first shot you can see the lead weights in each section so it can run empty with no issues. Unimate couplers were used and they work well with my MTs and Kato couplers.

This morning I started on installing the decks. When completed this unit will hold 5 12 foot containers.

Got the decks on all three sections and applied a coat of primer. Tomorrow I will be working on a method to hold the containers in place. All of my container loading and unloading is done by a big forklift, ships cranes, or the dockyard cranes.

The articulated container flat is done, to see what it was before go back a few posts in this thread.

In captive service hauling containers of hops to Japan from Washington State. Japan has hops but they are unsuitable for beer making. Friday Harbor ships hops there that are grown on the San Juan Islands in Washington State. Hops are loaded at the facility next to the brewery, a Hop elevator. From there they go to Friday Harbor where they are loaded onto a container feeder special barge. That barge goes to mainland Washington where they are transferred to a container ship bound for Japan and then transported by Japan Rail to the brewery there. Japan Rail containers are used. Thats my story and I am sticking to it. The leading hops producers are in Washington and Oregon States and in Germany.

More containers today. Just converted from BNSF to NACS. Going to leave the other reporting marks. It will only bother the rivot counters. Will bring the total number of containers to 85 I have done this customer.

Well I am at it again. Can't have just one gotta have two. So I have taken three Bandai container flats and made another articulated car. Drawbars were made from .188 by .030 styrene. The fun was drilling out the center hole to accept a split bolster pin truck and the trucks are Bandai freight trucks that come with different truck sides you can attach. With some careful drill work I was able to get the mounting hole with a lip to accept the mounting pins. I applied some extra weight to each section using tungsten putty and thin lead. The unit will have a brake wheel at each end.

    And the top side.

These container flats are designed to take two 12 foot containers or a single 20 foot one. The 12 foot containers are seen in back and are the Japanese refrigerated containers. I am going to make these frozen food transport and have coming some refrigeration units to add to them.

The spacing of the drawbars is taking into account that these car will have to navigate 6 inch and 7 inch radius in the port area and the cannery area.
