In the past, I've used 1&1/2 inches center line, to center line. Something to remember, on curves, when running longer cars, things can get rather tight. It depend on the car length and track radius. So you may need a little more space. Also, if there could be any future need, allow space for the 0-5-0 switcher between tracks. (Your fingers.) Boxcab E50
