My younger brother has invested in brass for almost 50 years (401K RR). I visited him recently in NorCal and caught the bug. I attended the Belmont Shores N Scale Club open house and swap meet a couple of weeks ago and the money keeps flowing out :).
I plan to create the Angel's Gate & Redondo Coast Railroad in the future. I have roughed out the design and figured where it will be constructed.
I currently have a 2 X 3 table that I picked up at the swap meet--it even has 6 turn outs !!!...BUT !! today I was at Home Depot pricing 80 X 36 doors...I am in the middle of finishing my 57 Nomad. When the new 496" Big Block goes in and is running properly, I will be in a better position to have time, money, and space to start some serious modeling. In the meantime, my grand daughters (5 and 8) love running my GP-35 around my small loop.

My younger brother has been collecting brass HO for about 50 years (401 K RR). We visited him a couple of months ago and I got the bug.
I recently attended the Belmont Shores N scale Open House and swap meet, and the $$$ has been flowing out ever since :).
I currently have a 2 X 3 tabletop with 7 (!) turn outs. My grand daughters (5 and 8) love running the train around the (small) loop.
Today, I was at Home Depot pricing 80" X 36" doors. The door top railroad will lead to the creation of the Angles Gate and Redondo Coast RR. I have done some prelim design, but I have to finish my 57 Nomad before I become really active in N scale. The 496" engine comes back from the balancing shop tomorrow and should be ready to go in a couple of weeks.
    Then, clear the tracks !!!

Welcome to Trainboard, Thadd. It certainly sounds as if you have really caught the bug. '57 Nomad is another cool thing to be working on. Will you send us some photos when you complete it? Then we expect to see your N scale work as well.

    Thadd-

Welcome to TrainBoard! We have a little Group here for folks interested in modeling Hollow core Door layouts. You might find it interesting.

In my past, I have owned a '57 Del Ray 210, and several '56 Chevys, including three Nomads. Past (long ago) member, the National Nomad Club!

Hi Thadd, Welcome to the TrainBoard, happy to have you on board. I'll be glad to help you with any questions where I can. On the other hand, I'm ecstatic when a car gets me from Point A to Point B, and Back. Though my younger son, who understands what "496" means, thinks I'm an Old Fogey Dork ... LOL

Welcome, Thadd. I like the "401K RR" notion, almost sounds like a good name for a freelance pike? Ditto what Ken said, a lot of folks here with good ideas for HCD work. Can't get quite as excited on the vehicle side, though, as I can't see anything that doesn't have a bed...But that's just me...
