I stepped away from N scale for the last year or so... I'm back! My questions are about engines. First, do current Atlas engines feature White LEDs like the new katos? Second, What engines DO feature these new style lights?
The newest of the Atlas engines have them starting with the B-30/36s. So far Kato and Atlas are the only who have it.
They are: Kato SD40-2 Snoots Kato SD80MAC, SD90MAC Kato P42's Kato C44-9W 3rd Release (Mar 01) Kato SD40 (expected Oct 02) Atlas B40-8 Atlas SD60M (latest release, Jun 02) Atlas SD50 (latest release, Jun 02) Atlas B30-7 and B36-7 Atlas B40-8W (expected Sep/Oct 02) Atlas GP7 (latest reelease) I think this is it. Add to the List the Kato F7 units from the trainsets (D&RGW, C&O, and ATSF Bluebonnet) these units were not available separately. I believe that all first generation era units will come with the "golden glow" bright amber LED headlight, while more contemporary units will feature the halogen-looking white LED.
