This effect is achieved by using a paint "wash". You need to thin a water-based paint with water to the point that, when applied with a brush, it will flow freely into the motor cracks but stays off of the brick faces. This is done with the walls laying on a flat surface so the flow is even. Light grey or concrete colors work great. I've done several buildings this way. Russ
