Isn't it strange that these companies announce a model, but don't announce the roadnames at the same time? I would think that they've already done whatever market-research by the time they decide what to make. Then, once they get 'feedback' from the 'net, from dealers, and at shows, they'd know how many to make of each roadname. No! They do it bass-ackwards! They go through all the expense of making something, and then hoping it will sell. [see: Kato, RS and RSC] Or they make a product that very few prototype roads ever used [see: Atlas, Trainmaster]. I've NEVER had a manufacturer ask me what I'd like, whether it's directly, via a poll on their website, or questionnaire in a magazine. Have any of you ever given input in any way? ------------------ Mark Weiher Trainboard Member #60 Frequent Visitor to The Loop ATSF/BNSF Fan & Modeller
No i have yet to see a poll but I'm sure Atlas keep a watch on their forum as this topic is always being discussed. what i find more distressing is the lack of information Manufacturers release about future models. I've heard about the argument of manufacturers trying to beat others at releasing the same model but to me it just doesn't add up. I would love to know what models were being released over the next year or so that way I could budget a little better. ------------------ Regards Paul Cassar-# Member number 50 SPAD Investigator #1 ICQ 61198217 http://users.bigpond.net.au/railroad2000
i dont know how much a b23-7 was talked about.but i for one am very happy with it.i know its not the 70macs that i am waiting on but this is good.it allows me to get two great engines dash 9's and b23-7 and still save up for my huge sd70 mac order(15-20 of them depending on what bn and bnsf schemes are done). ------------------ ed pinkley home of the pinkley taurus

Have any of you ever given input in any way?

Well let's see now I don't recall Ford or GM or Chrysler asking me about what kind of car I wanted. Bill Gates never consulted me on computer software. You know, come to think about it I don't recall any manufacturer asking me any questions like that. If it was available and I had a need for it I bought it. Lots of stuff I never had a need for and I, therefore, did not buy it. Lots of stuff I wanted but was never available like a front wheel drive P/U truck. I think they call it capitalism and from what I understand it ain't perfect but beats out all the other systems. But I will tell you I can't wait for GM to re release a '57 Chevy in candy apple red with the shark tooth grill, skirts, 283 bored and stroked with dual carbs and a Hurst 4 speed shifter. Only this time I won't let my fool younger brother borrow it.
