Well I've finally come up with another mystery loco. This one is a critter located on Hiway 108/49 just outside Jamestown,CA. Barely saw her as I drove by. Stopped suddenly on the side of the road in a huge cloud of dust and whipped out the tele lens for a closer look(too much traffic to turn around and try for a closer shot). Looks to be a Plymouth but I'm not good at identifying these little critters. Believe the owner is something like Table Mtn Beef Co. Already checked the "preserved" critter list but its no help. Anybody got any ideas as to the identity of this one??
I have the book "Critters, Dinkys & Centercabs" and I can't find anything like it. It does look like a Plymouth with one of the side hood doors in the "up" position. The cab is wrong though, but that could be homemade. The wheelbase looks short like many Plymouth's were. If I just went by the cab, I would say Whitcomb. No proof though, just a guess. Got a better photo?
No, this one is not at Railtown. The 45Tonner at Jamestown is a centercab ex US Army #7417(Photo coming soon too). Thanks though. I was thinking a Plymouth or Whitcomb myself on this one. Chris333, you're right, something doesn't look quite right but it could just be the angle/distance/open hood. Tried to even call Table Mtn Beef Co. but 411 just gives me a number for Table Mtn Ranches in Jamestown. I called but it's not the same place according to the person I talked to.
