    Hi!

Thanks to Railimages I now have a place to host my pictures of my ZMOD layout. As promised here are two not very spectacular pictures from it in it's current state. I've finished most of the woodwork.

As you can see I'm toying with the idea of having some kind of industrial action on an end module. Expect a siding at least and perhaps an extra track that climbs onto the next module (although this renders it not completely ZMOD compliant).

Nice work Mikael, you seem to be in the same building fase as me [IMG]

I want the SP daylight as well! :D I wonder if they match with AZL's GS4 SP Daylight, anyone knows?

That's nice framework, and a great start Mikael. I see you are using Plywood for your frame, making for a strong frame. :D

I used 1/2" thick pine on my trestle module, but I ended up breaking one of the corners, so I will use plywood next time for a stronger frame. [IMG]

The AZL SP sets has more accurate Daylight colors. The Marklin cars and F7 are almost too bright. You can notice it most in the red. Below are two photos, the top is from Will Wright of Full Throttle. I think you can see the difference.

One interesting point from the AZL Daylight release was that the passenger sets were the most popular sets in the run and sold out quickly. We thought the individual locomotives would go first since so many Z scalers already had the Marklin SP cars.

Frankly, even with the color difference, the steam locos still look great in front of the Marklin cars.

That's awesome [IMG] Does anyone have a suggestion on how to match the colors with the GS4? Repainting all those cars seems like a tough job!

The base looks very good. I enjoy pictures from all stages of a layout.

    Hi again!

Very litte progress. Just the tracks at the interface added with roadbed. I use 3mm "rubber cork" which is locally available here in Scandinavia (Biltema). The boring part is cuttting it myself and that funny smell (light odour of tar).

At least you are still making progress. I have yet to find the time to work on my modules, yet i have to replace the track on one of them before the next GATS in 5 weeks. :D

I keep seeing great postings on modules being built in Sweden and I think Norway to the "Z-Mod" standard. Just curious if this is the same standard as the "Z-Mod" standard (not Z-Bend Track) used by the Dallas, Garland & Mesquitte and the Texas & Beyond groups in the USA?

Both have two tracks on one side of the module, but I'm not sure if they are the same or not.

    Thanks,
    Randy

Hi, the ZMOD standard we use here in Norway www.zmod.no is mostly based on Manfred Jörger modules from Germany. http://www.platelayer.com/mj/zmod/jorger/index.htm

    Wow!

Just got my geep in the mail today! :D Man, this is a sweet engine for sure! Those Märklin F7 I have (two 3-pole and a 5-pole) are a joke compared to the GP in terms of running characteristics. And even more, it's quiet! Just look at that sharp lettering! Hats off to MTL for bringing this to us! [IMG]

Now some pics from it on my module (no progress on it otherwise but the GP really got me inspired to continue):

    Nice, Mikael.
The GP looks better with some nice colors than the plain black.
But yours almost looks blue on my screen [IMG]

Yeah, that gray looks blue in the second picture. It's not my monitor :D because the gray seems normal in the first picture.

The difference is the flash settings on my camera (Nikon Coolpix 4100). The first one is done with just room lighting. This is ok but I really do not like the way it automatically goes ISO 400 with noise as a result.

Second image is with the flash and as you point out you get a bluish tint.

I did some track laying yesterday which turned out well I think, inlcuding the flextrack. I will post some more pictures when it's done.

    Regards,

    Mikael

I noticed the same bluish tint with the photo's that Micro Trains provides, so it must be something about the paint they used being succeptable to the light of flash.

I'm guessing that direct sunlight will yield a much better color in photo's of this model. It is also possible that after sealing the paint with Dullcote or another flat finish, the colors shown with flash will be less blue looking. A quich test would be to put the UV filter on your camera and take a flash shot to see.
