So the 2222 is in the dip so I can give it a new coat of blue with white trim and graphics As I've finally figured out what didn't look right with the yellow More to come when I can get a break from work lots of hours right now TTFN y'all
Got a few new parts in on a couple of upcoming projects I need to work on Parts are from a new supplier to me
So this F2A early F3A is back finally did some sanding and test fitting then glueing Pilots attached now
So got a replacement dynamic brake housing to make it more in line with a standard GP38 As the GP38's with the old oil bath filters had a tendency to catch on fire Why a lot of them received air filter box upgrades later in their careers
Arriving in the next day or 2 thanks to Jim Fitch Will be a p2k DRGW GP30 another unit to properly detail Then add to the pool roster along with my NW and Southern units Pics when arrives
Now that's a locomotive that didn't just get beaten with the ugly stick, it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. I can't wait to see a model of it!
Won't be BN or BNSF Be in my freelance roads colors also will portray a wreck repair unit back in service
Well Vince, I got that SD9-3 boxed up for the trip, threw in a few extras for you. You will need to fab whatever antennas you want on it tho. I threw in a motor some modified motor mounts and drive lines for you too. they installed wheel slip recorders on every axle on this and all those parts are there too. The glazing for the cab windows may be hard to see but they are there. New wheel sets too. I will get it headed your way monday morning. Please PM me your address so it gets headed in the right direction.
So with a major territorial modeling change and with the restricted space i have for a layout I'm going to make do but with 3 levels the only region I'm able to model decently Is the Appalachian region which allows my transition to be better well disguised in places This will take me to modeling somewhere West Virginia influenced with coal trains double track along with intermodal trains also going high hood On the Indian Rock Side of the merger Roster and high and low hoods on the Rowelsburg Southern Side of the roster This will also have an effect on the roads I pool with Thanks to @jimfitch for the newest oldy but good for the roster Ph3 GP9 which will go into IRRY colors
This arrived yesterday so will get a few backdates to move it back to 1979 From a bnsf SD9-3 to an SD9U wreck rebuild
Appalachian is out as I found an area right in my back yard so to speak that'll let me mode a tri level smallish layout and run big power, racks, vans in the PNW Here's a little update on WNW 702 last F2A on the roster I model 1979 so this unit has a little over a year and a half of service left Added cab visor's above engineer and fireman's Windows added wind deflectors as based off the prototype pic I'm using Added my door to the nose Cal scale pilot plow to indicate it's 1974-77 rebuilding to extend it's life As the coal boom in Montana and Wyoming dictated majority of power purchases would be 6 axle road power Thus extending the life of f units, GP7's-9's until our power crunch of the mid to late 70's ended allowing the WNW to retire early units in 1981-82 All Alcos were off the roster by early 1981
So I'm refocused and working on my power as 1 train at a time while I get ready to start my layout section one So the other units are on hold except F7B 725 One train at a time for me means building the power consist first then assemble the train. Car by car First train I'm going to build will be the Executive Business train Starts here with WNW 1 a rare highliners FP7 shell so taking my time with it Have both body side grills installed, nose door and 48" DB fan it received from a wrecked F9B along with the F9B's 1,750 prime mover rebuilt with the unit in 1975 rated at 2,000 HP with 645 power assemblies in the 567
Added a few more panels to WNW 1 I drilled vent holes in the hidden part of the body to vent the liquid cement gasses. Evidently it closed the vent holes causing a soft area on the panel So WNW 1 is on hold for a week possibly 2 Cleaning off my bench I came across F7A #638 which has been removed for later reboxed for now As for the 725 more putty on the porthole windows nothing photo worthy Now #702 the last F2A has been in the shop as I await being able to start on WNW 1 So onto the pics Here's #638 2 pics Next pics starting with 3 is of #702 altered plow pilot, headlight mount like the prototype pic I'm working from
