As Christmas approaches I haven't had as much time to work on the layout but I've done a little.

I am working on the area that will become the lake by the campground. This is how it is right now.

The station platform will stay in that location as will the buildings in the campground. The lake will be in front of the tracks.

These two photos are of the residential area on the upper mainline. As with the campground/lake area there is still much to do here. I like the locations of the houses and the station platform.

    That's it for now.

I like that old Ford. What year is it? We had a 1951 4 door, when I was a boy.

Love the colorful houses, once I get a table I will begin buying some buildings.

It's a 1949 Ford Coupe. The first car that we had that I remember was a green 1949 De Soto.

As you well know, I like your clean layout a lot. Great new updates and photo's! I am a big fan of your layout. One day hopefully my N Scale will be this clean and nice, maybe :) But don't hold your breath!

My wife loves your mobile home/camper, a very neat detail. Looking forward to seeing your lake as it evolves. (y) I'll say it again -- I so greatly enjoy your posts and photos.

Thanks in2tech. I know you like the clean look. So do I. There is enough gritty realism in the real world for me.

I look forward to seeing how you develop your N scale layout. I won't hold my breath waiting, whenever you get a round tuit is good enough for me.

Thank you Hardcoaler. My wife also likes the mobil homes. I've been considering different ways to do the lake. As soon as I make a decision I'll get started on it.

Planning on trying to get back too it as soon as the cold weather is over, sick people, and animals get well in my family, and most importantly when I am in the mood to work on the layout again It's been just sitting there for month's now. I go in an out of the mood. The last mood change was caused by an engine I almost sure I was the cause of it no longer working :) Hopefully new updates in the near future on your layout? Good luck and looking forward to the pictures when you want to post them.

In2tech, do you run trains even though you're not working on the layout? My interest in working on the layout comes and goes, sometimes I get a lot done and other times I just don't feel like working on it but I always run trains.

As it happens I just wired the 4 buildings in the campground yesterday and have a couple of pictures. There's still a lot to do in this area but wiring the buildings is a big step forward. The clubhouse needs some attention. The big clear windows make it much to obvious that there is nothing inside. I have to do something about that. I have an idea of what to do but will think about it for a little while.

2 of the trailers are Woodland Scenics buildings with their Just Plug LED lighting system. I bought a WS power supply and a light hub that came with 2 LEDs. I replaced the incandescent bulbs in the clubhouse and the MTH trailer with those LEDs and I am very pleased with the results. Some of the figures and details are just lying on the ground and the canoes are where the lake will be but these are WIP photos. In the second photo you can see a passenger train speeding by in the background.

Did an earthquake make the figures fall on the ground :) Sorry could not resist, my apologies. Looking great, maybe the next earthquake will open up a lake, just maybe. Just Plug lighting is my favorite part of my layout now. And no, I do not usually run trains often. Go weeks and month's without turning the power on, and than all of a sudden I can't stop playing, running, working, on the layout. Use the Just Plug lights as a kind of night light a lot though. And it's just so cool to see the layout lit up as simple as mine is. I am seriously thinking about adding a timer to the lights. that's how much I like them.

I put all the figures on the ground away from the buildings so I could run the wires. They are all back in their temporary, maybe permanent locations again. :D

I also like the lights a lot. Sometimes I go into the train room and just turn the power on to see the lights though most of the time when I do that I can't help but run some trains. I've always loved running trains. When I had my N scale layout I enjoyed running the small trains just as much as I enjoy running the big ones. I'm one of those guys who doesn't get bored when the layout's finished. I enjoy all the lights, sounds and action more than building the layout.

The lake may be the next thing I work on. I also have to wire the houses and station platform on the upper level. I'm procrastinating on that task because I didn't plan ahead when I built the upper level and running the wires won't be so easy. I've been thinking about how to do it and I'll come up with something.

This is a mini update. I wired my first lighted vehicle last night.

    20190102_211543.jpg 20190102_211629.jpg

I really like the lights, they bring the vehicle to life. I plan to add more at locations where they would be stopped like at all RR crossings, stop signs and the like.

I'm also working on the upper residential area but there's nothing to show right now. I should have pics in a few days.

By the way, I've set a goal of finishing the layout by March 1st. When I say finish I mean all the major scenery done and all buildings wired. I will continue to add details and maybe even change some things sometime down the line so I don't man finished as in nothing more will be done or changed. Fortunately, I love running trains more than I like building a layout so I won't be bored once I'm "finished".

Mine hopping on a private plane and helping me with my N Scale layout. Shouldn't be but a couple thousand dollars :)

As always love the updates! After you finish this one in March, you will have to start another so I can comment on how clean it is :)

    You go @countryjoe

Thanks. I certainly wouldn't mind helping if you lived in Florida reasonably close to me.

After I finish the major construction phase I plan to keep contributing to this thread as I add details or new trains or whatever. It just won't be as frequent as now. In the mean time I have the lake, campground and residential areas to develop and report on.

When the time comes I will enjoy following your layout build.

    Thanks in2tech.

I wired all the houses and the station platform in the residential area as well as the passenger platform in the campground area yesterday. The major work in this area is done. There's still a lot of little things to do like adding more people, trees, bushes and other finishing touches. These are photos I took last night after finally wiring the last building. I took some time to admire my work and then ran trains for a while.

The last major area I need to finish is the lake/campground area. Then I can spend years adding and refining details and, of course, running trains.
