Just a little off topic, Is this layout being constructed in a hobby shop? I can't help but notice all of those AMT and ERTL 1/25 scale truck models in the background. When I was in my teens, my second hobby was building 1/25 scale truck models. I think I've built just about every truck model I see setting on those shelves. Sadly to say when I joined the USAF, my parents decided my bedroom was going to be their new den and my truck models when into the trash. This is the only photo I have left of all the models I built. Now back to our regularly scheduled program, Bill the NP Loewy colors on the fascia look great.
That is SWEET!!! Some will say it's distracting, but they just don't have an NP state of mind! Love it!
Small world, I drove a single bunk Freightliner cabover (we called them freight shakers) with a roadranger 9 speed transmission and a 350 Cummins. Just like the song "I been to the end of the world and back with a wheel and a stick in my hand" Of course my favorite was "Freightliner fever" by Red Sovine, Here I am again getting off topic
Sorry Bill for getting your thread side tracked. Do you belong to the "Model Cars Magazine" truck forum? http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/ BoxcabE50, The only two stickers I ever drove were Macks, 5 x 3 and 5 x 2. One over the road company I worked for had Spicer 7 speed transmissions, they were different. Just imagine a 5 speed shift pattern, with two additional gears on the right hand side of the shift pattern. The other Spicer was there 16 speed transmission, it was a progressive shift transmission that had a 5 speed shift pattern, with 4 selector positions on the knob. The funny part with that transmission, in the 4th and 5th gear shifter position, you only used the 3rd and 4th selector position. Ahh the good old days of trucking, arm strong manual steering and Non-synchronous transmissions. Today they have power steering and a lot of trucks now have automatic transmissions.
This layout is really fantastic. I love seeing all the detail and little components that people can fit into smaller layouts. Is there a trackplan you can show us?
