OK guys, here is the locomotive I am doing for a detailing article in N scale magazine. It is posted under the Congradulations Gats post also, but I felt wrong about taking the spot light away from Gats (job WELL done!!!) so I am posting here also. Here it is: (NOTE, the locomotive is not done in the photo!) The locomotive is a Kato SD45 painted in the HLCX paint scheme. Inreal life it is suppesod to be an ex SP SD45 (look at the L window and modified nose lights). Details on the loco. It has air hoses, ditch lights, nose lights, SP 'L' window, snow plow, lift rings, MU hose (gone in photo), modified MT couplers, frame mounted bell, frame mounted air filter (visible from photo), brass "see through" fans on top, air conditioner, winterization hatch, rear view mirrors, cab sunshades, GRAB IRONS (scratch built), an open back door, WITH window glass in place, and to top all of this off, it is custom painted with front and back number boards. Thanks for reading about this! I hope to have it come out in N scale magazine soon! Any comments, suggestions? Thanks! ------------------ Craig Martyn BLMA(best looking models around) Custom painting and detailing **Soon to come, N scale detail parts!!!

No need to worry about taking away anything from me... your SD is truly a lovely piece of kit, Craig. Excellent work! Any shots of the fans, per chance? Gary. ------------------ Gary A. Rose The Unofficial TC&W page N to the Nth degree!
Thanks guys! Well, no shots of the fans on the web yet, but if you E mail me, I will send you a shot of them via E mail. Thanks again! ------------------ Craig Martyn BLMA(best looking models around) Custom painting and detailing **Soon to come, N scale detail parts!!! Wow! It sure looks like a detailed large scale model to me. I don't know how you guys do that detailing in N-scale. (Micro-Trains doesn't put enough little springs in their coupler packs for me to complete one engine let alone the two that I'm supposed to be able to do. I just finished putting MT couplers on a Kato C44-9W. What a chore!) I can't help but wonder...are the ditch lights functional? If not...don't let it bother you.... My engines don't even have ditch lights. I'm modeling a time period before ditch lights, so I don't have to install the little suckers. They sure are neat though. ------------------ Rett

quote:
Originally posted by Grantha: Awesome work. When will this article appear in N Scale magazine?

Thanks Grantha! Well, the people at N scale said they can not gauruntee any article will be publushed, BUT, this one is writen very well and has been edited by MANY people. What this comes down to is this, the modeling is great and helpful, and the article is great. Any way, I will probibly send it out.....mmmmm, sometime at the end of the month, but then it's up to them to do what they have to do. So I am guessing it might be in an issue at the end of the year if I'm lucky. I will keep you guys posted. Craig, she is a grand looking engine. Will be looking forward to seeing your article in N-Scale magazine. From what I am hearing N-Scale is looking for good articles and it will be great to see one of our Train Board members in print. Finally installed a new PC system at home. It's going to be fun to be able to stay in touch with the board on the weekends now. The only thing is this 56k modem is like watching the grass grow. When at work I am hooked to a T1. Hope to have a cable modem once my isp has finished their digital installation . ------------------ Residing in BNSF's St. Croix Subdivision near Trempealeau, WI [This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 10 June 2000).]
