Metrolink (F59 PH) train heading south towards Los Angeles from my local passenger platform in Canyon Country, Ca (Via Princessa). Taken Thursday 04/15/04. With the price of gas spiraling higher and higher everyday here in CA (prices near $2.30 US a gallon locally), this seems the smart way to travel...railfan or not! Anyone else have any pics of their local passenger/commuter line to share?
Awesome photo Mike I like the exhaust blurring the freeway ---The Capitol Corridor, Nor Cal--- I use it fairly frequently to travel to the bay area from home and on the journey from here to home. Very nice ride, very nice trains, and very cost competitive with driving definitely.... BTW does anybody know anything about modeling the Amtrak California passenger cars? I know Overland has brass ones, but I've got this beautiful Athearn F59PHI and nothing to put behind it besides Superliners. Anybody know of a kitbash? I bet it wouldn't be too hard if you started w/a Superliner --A few weeks ago at San Jose, A Capitol train with a less common B32-8WH on the point. On the left is a Caltrain w/a F59PHI that travels the west side of the bay from San Francisco to Gilroy. F59PHI at Sacramento Caltrain Servicing facilities San Jose Capitol in Sacramento [ 20. Good to see that commuter rail is getting more popular in the US. Gas $2.30 a gallon, eh? You should try ours at the equivalent of around $6.80 Those Metrolink trains were fairly new when I was last there, good to see that the keep them clean
Alan, I guess we complain too much here in the US, about price of fuel etc...I recall when I was stationed at RAF Alconbury (Huntingshire) in the late 70's...gas (petrol) then was the equivalent of about $2.50 US a gallon then. Except there it was sold by the litre...rather then by gallon...was I in for sticker shock when I had to fill up my car in town!
No Fitz, I was with a communications squardron...at the time, the base had RF4-C's...by the time I left in 1980 they were transitioning to the TR-1's.
