I spent the entire month on a large project: the Rockaway Beach Branch. Thanks to Dave Keller (maps, research, photos) and Brad Phillips (photos/research) for making it possible. http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/lirrwebsiteupdate.htm

There are a number of rare tickets, timetables, and photos. (Over 150+) Also, Emery maps for a number of locations. As you read/scroll down the page you will travel the line from: The Main Line just east of WJ (later WIN) tower (Winfield Jct.) east of Woodside, leaving the Main at White Pot Jct., across the bay branching off the Hammel's wye and, heading west, terminating at Rockaway Park (Beach 116th St.) and heading east, terminating at Far Rockaway, Mott Ave.

Comments, input, additions, etc. always appreciated. Best, Steve

The link is is bad. http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/ma...ast-Mtk-Branch_Jct-Eastport-c.1943_Keller.jpg The photo is:

H10s #108 is pulling an eastbound freight along the Montauk branch at the junction of the Montauk and Manorville branches at Eastport c. 1943 in this view looking northwest directly up the Manorville branch. An indication that this was a wartime shot (and wartime photos were very rare because of the security policy that was strongly enforced) is the color of the smokebox. Smokeboxes of the locomotives during the war years were painted a dull, dark grey. They were painted a lighter grey/graphite after the war was over. Archive/Info: Dave Keller
