Well, lately I have been doing a lot to my layout and figured I'd show a few pictures. I decided to add another loop around. Instead of using a divide to make a rural and urban section, I removed it and went with the rural flavor. The first shot is the grain elevator. I really like it, being a midwesterner myself.

Next up is the back view I added a the fence and the field to give it a natural look.

Then I have the side view

I like them a lot! The grain elevator and silo's really are fantastic and make such a nice scene. Very convincing modeling! [IMG]

I had used mountains to make a view block to isolate one side from the other, but the silo's do the job really well. ;)

Thanks for the kind words Robert! It is not quite a 2x4. I would like to make a bigger layout, but I am still waiting to see what micro-trains track and turnouts will be like so in the meantime, I am trying to just make what I have look and operate a little nicer. It sure would be nice if classic metal works or somebody would create american z-scale vehicles to use. Eventually....maybe...I hope [IMG]

I wish I had 50's style cars myself. Just like the N Scale CMW cars. I have hundreds of those, and they are the best I think. If only in Z... [IMG] [IMG]

Joe, I think the fence is a very nice touch.

Thanks! Funny thing is the fence was my wife's idea. I had thought of just building up vegetation, but she said most fields have an old fence on the edge. So with some old z RR ties left over from an earlier track laying disaster and thread, I put up a fence. [IMG]

Did you buy that elevator as a kit? Or is it scratchbuilt? I looks really nice.

I have not put my elevator down yet, because I need to put the turnout in this weekend first. I noticed that Sgt. Tim is taking orders for his farm equipment set. I'm going to order a couple.

The grain elevator is from microfigs Inc. They have a web site, www.microfigs.com I purchased it last year and I really liked the looks of it. I've looked at Sgt Tim's site and it looks like some good stuff as well. Post some pictures when you get yours!

Well, Colonel, beleive it or not I still have loads to do with that little layout. I am going to try and find a barn to go on the other side of my feild. Also I am looking for a few farm supplies, maybe a tractor or two, combine. That sort of thing. I am also looking for good looking z scale people. As mentioned before some z vehicle of the non resin type would be nice. Just a lot of little details to add on. Basically, I'd like to get this layout as close to finished as possible because it is portable and then pehaps start on a larger one. How about you? Have you done any work yet in Z?
