American Z Line My GP38-2 (GP40-2) runs great now

Hi all,

From beginning my undec GP38-2 (which is converted into a GP40-2) didn't run great forward. Inspirend by the SD70 cleaning action in the SD70 thread, I deceded to take the chassis appart for closer inspection.
Well, in China they used also a tacky type of grease on this loco.
I have cleaned the chassis parts, worms and trucks in an ultra sonic cleaner. After re-greasing it, it is a great runner now! Now it can nicely run in consist with my Grande GP30.

 

Excellent news! Please could you tell us which brand of oil you've used for that?

Hi Dom,

I have used Pressol 'Heimwerkeröl'. It is a German brand of 'universal' oil which picked up at the local hardware store. The oil is acid and resin free. First I did clean and re-lube my Märklin rolling stock, which runs fine now as well. So far it works fine for for the AZL chassis.
