This is my first G scale scratch built caboose. It started out in life as a Bachman bobber caboose. I used the shell and a set of trucks I had and some other details. The care frame was built from scratch. I was just wondering what you all thought of it. Any ideas and or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Being an n-scaler, I love checking out the big stuff. You've done fine job there, love the attention to detail with that full interior! -Mike
I see that the only part left of the bobber caboose is the cabin. It is really a nice job of scratchbuilding the frame and everything. Indeed, nice details. When I saw the first frame picture, I thought this was a benchwork post, but then, I am in N scale. Very nice job.
One of the above posts asked how big my indoor layout is. Well it sort of was 25’ x 13’ with line out to my office and the turn table and round house, then back into the train room threw the other wall. Now about the WAS part. See there is this thing called an X WIFE and she is forcing me to sell the house. So far the Round house and turntable have been dismantled. The good news is that my current wife and I are buying a house with a basement that measures 25’ x 40’. This will allow me to build my dream layout. I have always dreamed of building a local railroad called the DAV&P “ Dunkirk Allegany Valley and Pittsburgh “. It’s a small town railroad that started here in my home town of “ Dunkirk NY. “ back in 1872. There is something special a bought modeling a local railroad. Modeling places and things that your friends will recognize from places they have been or seen. The thrill of going to the local historical society and learning a bought a home town railroad. In my case a few of the Stations and even 4 miles of the line can still be found. The four miles of track between Dunkirk and Fredonia are still used by CXS to access a local factory. My friend has a nice home page on the DAV&P you all might enjoy. Think a bought short lines in your neck of the woods.
