As for the Layout, it looks like a good plan. What program did you use to creat that? I've been trying to find a way to create a map of my layout for years now.

What are the total dimensions of your layout? If the red marks around the perimeter are 1 foot marks, then the layout would be 6' x 9'. Correct? If so, it seems that the raduises of the curves are very tight. What scale are you modeling in? Is it n scale? It looks like there are a few 8" radius curves. If it is n scale then most equipment will not go around those size curves without derailing. I would suggest making a full size drawing of one area so that you can get a good visualization of what will fit and what won't. If the plan is a lot bigger, then it will probably work.

thanks for the input, i used regular old ms paint to make the drawing, id be happy to do one for your layout, just send me the layout. it is nscale, i had to cut off the design notes on the pic to get it to load so that left out some important info. im new and i was worried about the actual size i.e. the radius are too small, also the grid marks are 1foot. the piece of track with the extremely tight radius is just a temp to represent a return loop for use until the second module is completed, that info was taken out of the pic for size constraints. i just got a template pack and i think i may have to just try to lay it out to see if it will work, i dont have the "eye" to tell if my ideas actually will fit in the space im wanting.... keep the input comming
    THANKS

I'm sorry, but even if the plan looks interesting, there is no way to fit it into a 6x9' layout. The 5 #4 turnouts used for the stub yard in the lower left corner takes up 2', the turnouts alone, and on your plan you have estimated about 4". (I'm assuming you are using 1' grid on you plan), I think the best thing to do is to get a couple of turnouts so you can see how much space they actually take. Also, I would recommend to us no less than 12" radius, so a 180 degrees turn will take 2', looks like you have estimated 6-7", way to tight.
There is a webpage with a lot of 3x5 and 3x7 N scale layout plans, unfortunately I don't have the link here, but maybe some one else has it. Take a look at those plans, that will give you an idea of how much you can fit inyo your planned space.

    Good luck
    Jesper

Jesper is correct, you are trying to fit too much into to small of a space.

The web site he is refering to is Mike's Small Trackplans

This will give you an idea of what fits in 3x6 feet.

Also, Atlas has free track planning software at atlas free software that is just like snapping bits of track together. It's very easy to use and is a great way to check to make sure that what you want will fit.
