I know we've had this thread before, but here's my big wreck of at least 25 tankers just off my West Harbor--talk about environmental hazards:
That's quite a mess you've got there, Pete. I hope none of those tankers ruptured! Mine's a video. Of course, my definition of "big" is a bit different... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lElV2XrPXFk (You may have already seen this on the video cutting room floor - it's my 2-8-0 derailing.)
Hi Pete, Great shot! Not to much damage done, I hope! Eye spy with my alco eyes...I see a PA, PB & RS-3's on the side?
Here's one from a while ago, previously shown in my Showcase Module thread. As result of a giant earthquake (the backdrop falling against the module)
I was running trains at a GATS in 2005, when a kid came running full barrel towards my modules, so I stopped the train. The kid banged into the layout, but I had braced it, and the train did not fall over. Then the kid got bored and took to running straight across the hall from me, so I whipped out my camera in time to take this shot: He ran full speed towards the G Scale layout. The lady in the purple freaked just as the kid hit the table, and watched in horror as the kid knocked several of her passenger cars to the floor. The loco was saved by the guy in the purple though.
A good reason to put barricades or fences in front of layouts as is the custom at train shows here. I think I've posted this one before, but this is what happens when you forget you've parked the local passenger down the far end of the yard track you are running that freight into.
Wine + Model Trains = Ooooops Nothing was injured except for my ego: Still - a nice crisp chilled Woodbridge Chardoney, it was worth it.
I wish I would have thought to take a photo but I my little layout just had a major earthquake yesterday. I had two 20 car trains running at the same time when a door blew open and smashed into the layout. I didn’t notice it at first, but then I noticed the silence. Every car including the locos was lying on their sides as if they were gently laid out around the track. Most of the cars were still coupled.
Opppsssssssss !! To many locos on the same track...going different speeds. I Love DCC. What's this 'speed matching' I keep hearing about...LOL :tb-biggrin: .
Geesh, I hate kids like that, My 3 year old even knows not to do stupid stuff like that, of course she has grown up around my trains, matter of the fact, when I do run trains, she usually takes the trottle a few times, adn she has her own DCC equiped thomas that gets pulled out sometimes. I though for sure your loco was heading for the ground.
I guess I am fortunate that I haven't had my locos or rolling stock swan dive into the floor. Only a matter of time.
I was very fortunate that it derailed to the inside. Also very fortunate, in that the first car behind the tender was the nScale.net Traveling Car. I would NOT have wanted to explain the damage to that puppy, had it followed my prize steamer into "Driveway Canyon" ...
