    Hi all,
I visited the Great Train Story at MSI in Chicago yesterday and noticed that all of the mainline trains were running in the same direction. If I remember correctly everthing was moving in a clockwise direction with no opposing movements. There were maybe two trains that were facing the opposite direction but no movement. Does anyone know why the trains are operating in this fashion?
Sure came away with a lot of ideas!!!! I have seen the layout several times before but always notice something new with each visit.

Is there double track mainline on that layout? I haven't been there in over a year, so I don't recall.

I don't think the layout is manned at all times, I'd imagine it's easier to have everything running in one direction in case of a equipment malfunction, as I do know there are blocks for each line, and the trains will not proceed if the block ahead of them is occupied.
