Yeah, the sides are too low, supposed to be 14'3" from the top of the rails, so I need to adjust the drawings some. When I did them, I measured the side height as the inside of the car, and forgot the outside dimension. I always forget something on the first couple iterations. The sad thing is, I cut parts for all 16 cars I want to build, because I was sure it was right. Doh!

Oh well, into the laser bin with them. haha! One of my friends will probably fish them out, and put them on their layout.

    Robert,

Don't trash them all. Send me a sheet or four. :)
I love your laser cut wood stuff. I use the leftovers for all kinds of stuff.

And it's a neat looking car nonetheless.....

Great picture Gordon! Near and dear to my own heart. You can't tell I'm on a MRL kick these days can you? :D

Note the door. Is that orange showing through at the top? So how close is the MTL MRL car? Interesting....

personally I wish that MTL will release this on their plug-door boxcar mould that will be released in a month or two (new colors to boot (logo and titles)

I knew it. You're out to bust my budget, aren't you, Rob?!

While you are at, add WC, WS, NYS&W and Utah RWY. ;-)

While you are at it, do ask about SD45's and SD70m-2's (or did MRL get ACe's?), too.

Wow, Robert, these repaints look great. I was thinking of doing some doors and flying W's myself, but these look fantastic. Out of curiousity, did you base these on actual cars, or just guess at the variations? Either way, they look great, just curious about your process and line of thought for these great ideas.

Also, has anyone tried doing a woodchip hopper from a boxcar? Many are made that way in 1:1.

Thanks for the kind words. What I did was look over a lot of pictures of MRL boxcars, then made the decals up, and kind of randomly applied them. None are actual copies of cars, but just a general flavor of the variety seen in the photos.

It was a fun project, but now I'm off my MRL kick, and onto intermodal. ;)
