the atlas N scale forum references N scale supply as announcing what will come from MTL in September. from one of the photos on the discussion it seems to show 3 Z cars on the table along with the N releases (at the N scale convention in Denver). in Z scale i think i'm seeing another log car load, a CSX 50' ribside box car, and a "pennsy" (?) 2 bay hopper. what do you see? AND ... is it true! No GP-35 is listed, but from the discussion on the yahoo group Z site it appears Conrail will get the locomotive honors in September. dave f. p.s. i have know way of knowing if any of this is factual or not.
David, what a great news. Finally a CSX boxcar that I dont have to repaint. I think I saw a picture of MTL releases in September, but dismisss it as all n scale. Can z scale life be this good. Must send a thank you e-mail to Joe.
I see the CSX boxcar. The only question is n scale or z scale. Here in the link. http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/attachment.php?attachmentid=934&d=1155336522
That sure looks Z to me! That is great news! Joe already confirmed the PRR PS2s will be released in September. I would say a log car and 12 Day of Christmas #7 are coming next month as well. Rob
CSX 50' Boxcar John, If I didn't know better, I'd say that you put your Mark4design 50' Waffle boxcar in a MTL case and placed it on the table before that photo was taken! Awesome! MTL better make about 100 extra CSX 50' boxcars above their normal production load cause I have this feeling John is going to have them send a large box Florida's way! That CSX boxcar looks outstanding! Cross your fingers John! lane: Hobo Tim
Rob, I think you may have addressed this before but I can't remember. Is the AZL CSX SD70 going to be an SD70 MAC and are seperate shells going to be made available from AZL? Thanks, Joe
Joe, SD70MACs are different from the SD70 series AZL is releasing. The CSX is an SD70M (not MAC). CSX does run both MACs and Ms as well as the newer ACEs. AZL refuses to compromise on shell details which is why the won't slap a paint scheme on just any shell. The CN SD75is reportedly have upwards of 7 or 8 different details on the shell from the NS and UP SD70Ms. Wow! I have found 4 so far. One item that I just caught is that there are different hatches between the shells. So long story short.. the MACs are too much different from the SD70M series and will have to be considered for a new run. For a roster of CSX locos, check out: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locoList.aspx?id=CSX Here is a link to a CSX SD70M: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=238727 Rob
Hi Rob, do MACs and Ms have a different chassis lenght / distance between trucks / wheelbase? Dominique
The SD70M and the SD70MAC have a different wheelbase from bolster to bolster. I think it's something like 3 feet longer. AZL has said before, if it's not exactly accurate they don't want to do that. I'm just hoping that we will at least see some NS and Conrail and maybe IC SD70 Spartan cabs. SD70MAC's and SD70ACe's (and SD70M-2's) wuold have to be separate models (that I very much hope AZL does). I wonder, are there more SD70's on the rails or are SD70MAC's more numerous? Randy
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_SD70 there are 1646 SD70Ms, 1124 SD70MACs, and 120 standard-cab SD70s. I'm pretty sure we're getting the SD70, though it hasn't been officially announced. Look on this page: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=62314&page=3 This was the first picture released of an SD70M on its chassis... and behind it, very blurry, is a similar engine with a spartan cab. It wouldn't be logical for it to be an SD50 or SD60, since they're 1' shorter. Why not reuse as many existing parts as possible?
