Uncle will just announce a two bay hopper made by Bowser with Hays brothers loads, and its $38 for a two pack. They look just like Penzees three bay, but its lower.
I just ordered two 2-packs of those 2 bay hoppers from ZSM. Does Uncle Will they have a website? I'm slightly worried about the artwork as neither road offered looks correct. http://prr.railfan.net/freight/freightphotos.html?photo=PRR_220383_H31.jpg&fr=clH31 http://prr.railfan.net/freight/freightphotos.html?photo=PRR_220301_H31_34view.jpg&fr=clH31 (I'll hold back because I do like the cars) The car them selves look great though and 15 or so of them will make a nice train for a GP7 to pull.
no, but he has E-pay store: http://stores.ebay.com/Uncle-Wills-FULL-THROTTLE_W0QQsspagenameZL2QQtZkm edit - there is also info about Full Throttle on: http://sbiii.com/fulthrtl/index.html the photo links you quote are for builder's photos - these cars "... were around long enough to carry everything from the circle keystone to the last plain scheme..." (quote from "Pennsylvania Railroad Steel Open Hopper Cars" by John Teichmoeller) see page 71 so it is likely that uncle Will has done his homework :teeth: Chris
I apologize if I'm wrong as I don't know much about the two railroads listed. I just thought it was odd to see a black PRR hopper with billboard lettering when these seem to be more the norm: http://sbiii.com/zmrrpix/z-prrhop.jpg They look like great hoppers and I want a string of them : )
Yeah I see them on E-bay for around $80 a piece (yikes) Used the photo to show the paint scheme and it just happens to be Z to boot.
yeap you are right about black being an odd choice  don't get too many or else your consist will be out of balance - H31 was only very tiny percentage of overall fleet of PRR hoppers. Have a look at: http://kc.pennsyrr.com/freightops/54_fleet/index.ws4d Chris
Oh I didn't mean a string of PRR hoppers, just the body style in general, a "coal train". I tend to think a unit train of all the same cars makes more sense in the modern era, but "back in the day" things were mixed. You could find many different style hoppers and different railroads in one train. I think reefer "blocks" were the same way. Just going by what I see in my Erie books. If anyone did run unit trains of all their own cars I'd bet it was "The standard" railroad (PRR) So how's about a list of all RR/paint schemes we would like to see these hoppers released in? Me: PRR (red) NKP (not the silver [aluminium] one) Reading Berwind NYC B&O heck just about anything, but please...no Yellow Peabody!!! What, you didn't list Erie? Well they had mostly offset side hoppers: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/el/frt/erie28788adb.jpg but did have some newer cars with outside braces. http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/el/frt/erie29247b.jpg So OK I'll take Erie, but really I just want a coal train :w20z6q: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=76472
Well, I don't care about the roadname, because I'm painting mine up in NP black with white lettering. You Pennsy lovers better get yours quick before the "Stripper" get them! haha! I'm an instant gratification kind of guy, so no need to do these cars in NP as I'll do my own.
Chris, As was stated earlier, these cars could have had any of the PRR schemes. The black one is a later one. There are several that could have been used. And, eventually, hopefully, they will be. Dan S.
Since Chris (the other Chris) models early 50's, if he squints a bit, they could easily look like GLa clas or several of the other GL* series. The most visible difference was the brake wheels. And there were thousands of those. Dan S.
If the black ones are sold out, I can just wait for another black release, as I only want to scrape off the white lettering with my microchisel, and paint bomb the sides. No need doing extra work, because after the weathering treatment, nobody will be able to tell.
Hey! What happened to the SP Geep? I thought it was going to be the next GP release for November. ~JimmyG
