Just got mine, haven't seen any photos of this scheme, (black w/orange feather). This is the first car I've purchased that has the low profile wheels included. I don't think I'll be using them but it's nice to have the option. 2slim
That is a correct paint scheme, that is if the feather is fairly short. I have a shot I took of one in the late 70's and I seem to remember that it was only 3 or 4 panels wide. Need to dig it out and report back for sure. Anyway, it is a neat looking car and I'm looking at an O scale version, only it is orange. While not exactly prototypical, it is a neat car also. Is there a picture of your car on the web we could peak at? Greg Elems
Greg- Here is a photo that I found on the web: http://www.4nscale.com/details.asp?p=6874 Hope this link works for you. BoxcabE50
Thanks for the link. Very good model and very close to the prototype. I have a picture in a book of that very car. Correct number and roof. The picture is of a weathered car and I can't tell if it had the feather, I suspect it did. Another shot of a car with a higher number has a good shot of the feather and it looks almost perefect. I see that MT has the same problem getting their gondola's to hunker down on the trucks like most of the O gauge trains I work with. Overall, I would still rate it a 5 star car. Greg Elems
