What's the best thing to use to glue, (or nail), Micro-Track to pink foam board for permanent use? I have Marklin track spikes, but they are too short.
i have my test track right on top of the foam board and it works like a drum -- you hear every sound. i would think the MT track would do the same. kurt, you might think about using some foam or cork roadbed underneath. it could be big help. just thinking out loud ... i'm sure you'll get some good responses here. i've used acrylic caulk to lay my track (but it wasn't the new MT type). they make one that goes on white but dries clear. very good holding with out "super gluing". my 2 cents, dave f.
Kurt: I use Unitrack in N scale for the JJJ&E. I used a hot glue gun to permanently adhere the roadbed of the Unitrack to the foam. Just touch some hot glue on all four corners of the MT track roadbed and hold in position till the glue cools. If you have to remove the track for any reason, a #11 blade in a knife will do it easily. Here's a very old picture showing the glue run along the edge of the Unitrack roadbed. You only need the glue in the four corners of the roadbed. Here is the Unitrack roadbed completely ballasted. You can do the same with MT Z scale track: The ballast is from Color Canyon Materials and is a natural rock ballast. They have it in grades fine enough for Z scale. Have fun... Stay cool and run steam.....
I use plain old white glue for laying flex track. It should work with Micro-Track as well. Just add water if you need to remove it (may have to let it soak for a little bit though). Randy Smidt
