Just received my Jan/Feb issue of Diesel Era... There an article and lots of pictures of the new MRL SD70ACe's... Harold
Tom Danneman has an article on the ace's in the latest Trains mag as well. Picked both mags up today. grant
Caps-lock, man... Most differences are visual. Cab is more smoothed on the MAC, more angular, and notched on the ACe. 4000 HP prime mover on the MAC, 4300 horse PM in the ACe. Tier II state-of-the-art emissions equipment in the ACe, older less efficient emissions equipment in the MAC. MACs came about in 1994, ACez in 2005 or so. The biggest spotting difference is the huge flared radiators on the ACe, and the flush, smooth long hood on the MAC. HTH! [ March 01, 2006, 06:18 PM: Message edited by: HemiAdda2d ]
See the smoothed cab edges? The flush radiators? Ignore the GE AC4400CW trailing the MAC.. SD70MAC: See the SD90MAC-style radiators? The notched cab corners? The cab is a bit more angular, and straight. SD70ACe:
Hemi you forgot the big one... DB's are behind the cab on a mac and at the rear of the unit on an ACe. grant
Heh.. I don't think I have ever been referred to by my member # before.. Grant, I never thought of the DB's.. Good catch!
