    Hey List,
When you buy the Command 2000 system w/o the loco does it come with power or do you have to buy a seperate power pack? I was going to get the Atlas system but then I saw the price on this today when I was at Hiawatha's. Would anyone recommend this system. I would really like to get a Digitrax system but I am a young teen with no job(not old enough) therefore not a whole lot of money. All for now. Talk to you later.

Here is what I answered on another forum:

The 2000 is a good deal if you are a starving student and want to run a DCC on a smaller layout to medium size. By good deal, I mean that you found one really cheap on ebay or elsewhere that some one was getting rid of because they were no longer happy with it.

I think it is a good system to purchase if you have almost no money but you want DCC. If you have a reasonable amount of money, I would go into the lower end of the best out there.

Think I can help you out here. I have this system, and yes you will need power for it. But if you are only running 3 locos or less at one time , you will be able to use the fixed 12 volt power off of your existing throttle. You will be limited here by the AMP capicity of your powerpack. Its a good system if you like to run a couple of trains at once, as you will have a speed and dirrection control for each loco. The functions are real limited , you cant consist for example ( unless you assign both locos the same address) . But you can doublehead using two controls. ( more realistic anyway I think ) .Its a good starter system, and you can gety started in DCC real cheap. In the future you can always upgrade to a different system without much problem.........Mike

To compare system prices I would like to recommend you go to Tony's Train Exchange's website at http://www.ttx-dcc.com. Tony's carries just about every brand of DCC. He even carries Zimo which is probably the most expensive of all systems. He also discounts which is always nice. His website is well organized and easy to find what you are looking for.
