I installed a mrc 1645 in a p42 and it moves fine but the sound is almost unheard .......i have other P42 which are much louder with the same mrc 1645 decoder in them. im not the best with decoder diagnostics so any help would be more then appreciated PS i already checked CVs for sounds and levels tryed doing a CV125 reset and got a no Communication across the screen
Nothing to do with CVs etc. If within the warranty period send it back to MRC and get a replacement. I have 10 MRC sound decoders in various diesels, including the P42 and it is quieter than the others, but seriously, I can still hear it. If you want more sound on the layout, get the MRC stationary HO decoders to add a bit of volume. I have three of these consisted together with each of the decoders with different loco sounds (not matched to any loco). The beauty of this is I can't here my wife when she is calling out to me - selective deafness!
