There is a note on Atlas's website saying MP15s are now shipping from Atlas excluding Reading units. Shouldn't be long now!
Bill: They should be available in a week or so. That's fine with me. How is the Mikado running? Stay cool and run steam.....
Hi Bob, Mikes running great. I got the other one today and it runs smoother than the first out of the box. I've got two TT coming to retrofit both of them, and some NP steam decals. I do love them.
Bill: They are great steamers. The traction tires are easy. Take your time with the detail parts. Have fun.... Stay cool and run steam....
Hi Ken, naw I just wanted a couple of nice running steamers. I like watching them speed along the mainline. I love the NP of the 60's, and who says a couple of NP's mikados couldn't have lasted that long in revenue service
Bill- Actually, with the topic of MP15's, that's what had me worried.... NP steam on your empire would be great! Boxcab E50
The MP15s are going to become standins for Weyerhaeuser SW-1500s on log trains. They used SW-1200s, but I've never been really thrilled with how LL SWs run. The Atlas MP's ought to be awesome. I did toy with the idea of Milwaukee Road units, but they used AC's and didn't get them until the early 70's I believe. I may still be tempted if Atlas brings them out. But I'm stuck in the 60's
Well the Atlas MP-15's are starting to arrive at most shops and e-tailers. They do look very nice and Atlas did a great job with them. The DCC versions of the MP-15's should be arriving in about four weeks according to Atlas. Stay cool and run steam....
I ordered 4 SP's today. Now I can create those consists I saw as a youngster with SD40T-2,SD45T-2, SD9, GP9, etc. I still need a layout though. Hey Brian, mind if I use your layout?
I can't wait to see one "live"... I guess it is time to start speculating about the second run.... Harold
I can't wait to see one either. I have an SP on order but it's DCC so I get the "DCC Penalty" while the others get their new toys. And my LHS (not where I bought mine) usually gets things about a week after everyone else so I can't even go gawk at one in the store. As far as speculation, Paul G. made a comment on the N_Scale Yahoo forum that they did the first two types (angled and square filter) and the second run would be the third type (standard filter) and possibly a couple more of ONE of the other types (so either angled or square but not both...got it?) I did some quick searching and came up with a short list of roads with the standard filter version of the MP15 and here's my list: Frisco BN BNSF H1 Union Railroad P&LE* Amtrak* UP Belt Railway of Chicago Alaska Lake Erie Franklin & Clarion *Although I don't recall the specifics, there was something different about the P&LE's (handrails, I think) and it was asked if they would get that specific and the answer was no. The Amtrak's were former P&LE, I believe. On the first run, Atlas did 7 road names plus the two versions of undecs. If they keep 9 releases, and we assume that they will do 1 undec plus two of one of the previous release body styles, that leaves 6 road names from my list above. Con-Cor did a decent Amtrak version so I think it's out. The P&LE, LEF&C and Union Railroad are on the fringe and from the same general area (I think) and I think one will make this run and the rest will be tabled. So that leaves: Undec (Standard Filter Type) Frisco BN P&LE UP Belt Railway of Chicago Alaska The other release are simply a W-A-G, so I'm going to throw out a couple from left field: (both are the square filter type) L&N KCS
Well I am hoping that the next run will include a nice black and white scheme with a big horse on the nose!
Mike, I would infer from this that you won't get your horse until the third run. It seems he was getting at that in a round-about way. Of course he could just be trying to throw us off, too. Guess we'll probably see here in a month or two.
I feel I am in the same boat only with BN/BNSF. There is only one BNSF H1 paint job, and the other 4 are repaints from Frisco. When I tried to lobby Paul and Rob at the National Train Show, they mentioned they like to have a few road numbers for the DC/DCC versions they do. So while I would definately buy a BNSF H1 paint, I'll settle for th BN paint job. Or as Flash asks... will I have to get out my airbrush? Oh... and a follow up question, should I buy the DCC and not have to worry about installing such a tiny decoder in one, or go with a Digitrax later?
Well, Chris, I bought two undecs when the Trainmasters came out in the Black Widow scheme. I painted them bloody nose, and in the next run...
