I've gotten all the source I need on the coaches, and dozens of photographs for paint and detail work in small scale. But what I wish to know, because my research ran short on this, did BN ever paint any heavyweight diners over to MOW? And if so were they MOW Gray or the standard MOW Oxide Red?
BN MofW Can't say for sure about the diners but almost all the former passenger cars on the BN were boxcar red with a silver roof. The former freight cars were a light grey. I have a couple of photos of wide vision cabeese converted to bunk cars and they were light grey with black lettering. The cupola windows were blanked out and a bunk was installed where the seats once were. The lower windows were also blanked out and a small kitchen and toilet were installed with more bunks in the long end of the caboose.
I've also seen the Streamliner cars from NP and GN that got the boxcar red. but they didn't have the silver roof, was this only for former streamliner coaches/baggage?
The Gulf Coast Chapter NRHS had an ex BN MOW heavyweight baggage car that was converted from a diner. It was painted mineral red but I recall it having a black roof. It was sold to a BBQ restaurant in North West Houston to use as a dining room.
So Silver roofs or Black roofs then, I guess it really depends on which car you model. Alright thanks for your help~ Now I'm pointed in the right direction.
