On my last layout I used 2 Digitrax units. A SuperChief DCS and a Super Empire controller. I had built a shelf for them into my layout. The controllers were pretty light and seemed to "float" around just from the wire tension. Just curious as to how others mount or secure the controller. For my current layout, building a shelf or some other central power point on my layout is going to be a priority soon and I'd like to get some ideas on what others do w/ their layouts and mounting Digitrak controllers.
I have mine sitting on a shelf under the layout (no, the blue painters tape on top is not holding it down). You can see the DCS100, the PS-14 on the next shelf, and at the far right a PC power supply for auxiliary power (+12V, +5V, +3.3V and -12V all supplied around the layout for lighting, UP panels, accessory power, etc.)
By "Super Empire controller" do you mean DT402? My DCS100 is mounted under the layout. I have 50mm x 50mm (2" x 2") velcro pads applied along the layout fascia, with matching velcro pads on the back of all my DT402D and UT4 throttles. An operator can either hold the throttle in his hand, or temporarily afix it to the layout fascia using the velcro. Here are some examples of the velcro pads being used: Regards, Ron McF
