The selection of Locomotives and Cars is currently the best it has been ever. But still there are LOTS of empty spaces where major units and cars are being left out. What do you want?

    Heres my list
SD50 (could be done in Chessie, CSX, CR, NS, UP, MP, KCS, SP, D&GW,and Seaboard

    and for a car
I want a 3 and 4 Bay 100 ton Hopper. Chessie and many other roads owned litterally THOUSANDS of these cars however they remain undone (unless you count the LL crap one)

3 bay 100 ton 50' 4000 cu ft capacity hoppers - 13 and 15 rib. Concor makes 13 and 15 rib hoppers but I have never seen one so I don't know how the details are (easily fixed if the basic dimentions are correct.)

You are are right - there are thousands of these in the real world but all we can get in HO is the 45' lower capacity cars. Some of the 50 footers have rotary ends too!

Walthers just introcuded 4 bay 100 ton hoppers. I think they are 50 footers.

Does anyone have one of the Concor hoppers? How long is it?

For locomotives, it's a toss-up between SD35, MP15AC, and B30-7. Freightcar-wise, I'm ok...the one thing I had wanted for a long time was ANY Berwick Forge boxcar, but thankfully Athearn and Branchline Trains are taking care of that. [IMG]

As for my large locomotive prime movers are OK. I still need a center depress 3 axle, 6 wheel truck (48' I believe) flat car to go with my Western Maryland complete freight train which consists of 2 each of every WM car the real R.R. owned. Its not like a 4 truck Walthers 75' depress center flat car or anything but its real close to it! Only difference is that instead of having 4, 2 axle trucks it has 2, 3 axle trucks. One on each end of the car. What a car to want! :D I'll buy a Walthers 75' center depress and ommit the end platforms and all the trucks to it and get a set of "buckeye" or "commonwealth" 3 axle, 6 wheeled trucks and mount them as the real WM had theirs. I'll keep looking for awhile till i'm sure that none is made then i'll begin the customization of one. :D Save some money and alot of time but might be worth the wait!!! :D

What about LBF? They are making all kinds of hoppers. I'd love to get one of their special 120 car sets of UP Trinity Aluminators! Would that look great at a train show [IMG] Anyone want to loan me $3K - have to get loads and couplers too ;)

    Having a great time!

As for 100 ton 3 bay hoppers, there are some decent models out there. Bowser and Concor make some pretty decen 100 ton hopper cars. Someone else has come out with a kit where you have to assemble the sides of the car as well.

As for locomotives, I second the SD35. I would love to see one in a hi-hood version. Also a good U28b or U30b would be nice.

For the SD50, I know LL has come out with an SD60- what are the external differences between the two (I can't see any, but it may be I'm looking thru the wrong part of my bifocals) :D
As for the SD35, Atlas came out with one back in the late 1970s (a Roco import). The details were a bit clunky (especially the handrails), and it used the SD24 chassis, but it ran OK. I still have Atlas/Roco GP38s and GP40s on my layout, and they're going strong.
As for coal hoppers, McKean came out with 12-panel and 15-panel 100-ton hoppers back in the 1980s. I have 20 of them, along with 12 of the Bowser kits (yes, all in Frisco). The Con-Cor ones ain't bad (they look like the McKean cars), and from what I've seen of the LL cars, they're good, too.
Unless you count Whitcomb, Davenport, Plymouth, Vulcan, and Lima, the diesels are getting well-covered (with a few exceptions). I'd like to see some more steam- like the cool-looking & cooler-running Bachmann Spectrum Shay I saw in action recently.

GE AC6000CW. They have been around as long as the SD90MAC and those shells have been out for a few years already.

May I second the motion for the AC6000CW! Would really like to see a CSX or UP to go with the Kato SD90s.

As far as steam goes I would love to see a Class A 2-6-6-4 from Rivarossi or P2K!

While I don't have any specific request for rolling stock I would like to see some more 20 and 40 foot containers with more modern companies represented for my double stacks.

In due time all our requests will probably met in some form or another. Just a matter of time. [IMG]

In a want list for me, I'd love to see someone make a plastic 150 ton 3 truck Shay as the last Shay built! The Western Maryland #6 this would be a great addition to logging and what have you in the geared loco section of the hobby. And be the easy way to get a scale 3 truck Shay 150 ton without the price of brass! :D

friscobob - could you do me a favour and measure one of those? Length and height if you could. I am having a hard time finding any down here to look at and if I'm gonna order some I would like to know what size they are.

The LL cars are models of 45' 3400 cubic foot capacity (AAR type H350) cars. From pictures, it looks like the Con-Cor or McKean cars (apparently Con-Cor purchased the molds from McKean so they are the same) are the longer 50' 4000 cubic foot capacity (AAR type H351) cars. The higher capacity cars are used to bring the lighter Western coal, whilst the smaller cars are used for the denser Appalachian coal. Both are 100 ton.

I agree the LBF coal gondolas are sweet and there will be some of those in my future (better exchange rate pending) but they don't make hoppers other than the 5 bay jobs that are too modern for my RR [IMG]

    Hello,
I am sure I posted this to the original inquiry but I STILL would love to see readily available scale width gp-7/9/18. Atlas and P2K are fine but available only in limited quantities.
Also GE U-boats with scale hoods would be great. Is Stewart ever going to re-release their U25/28-b?
Actually if Athearn would re-tool their older line locomotives that would fill my wishlist. I realize this will probably not happen now that they are concentrating on the Genesis line.

They updated their SD40-2 and that's not a Genesis line. I'm expecting to see more updates from Athearn.

For myself, I'd love to see the 50' 100 ton coal hoppers available in Union Pacific. I see train after train of coal passing through town or when traveling around, usually 100 cars trains. A lot of them are heading down to Delta, Utah to feed the Intermountain Power Project. A bunch more are heading east to feed the power plants back there with our "cleaner" coal, or towards the Las Vegas area. Anyone that wants to model UP can't do it without having those cars.

I always regarded Athearns SD-40-2 as a newer model(even the original run from the 80's) because it had the scale width hood. I am talking about the GP 7/35, SD-9/45, U-28/30/33, Trainmaster etc....
I have both the early version and updated version of the SD-40-2 in Rock Island and I think they had the color and lettering down a bit better on the early release even though the body was incorrect.

OK Yank, from what I can see of the coal hoppers I've measured here in Grand Junction, the types represented by the McKean and Bowser cars are 47 feet long (internally), which oughta put it close to 48 feet externally. The Bowser cars can also be used for Missouri Pacific and C&NW, both of which show up on UP coal trains.
Someone had a question on UP coal hoppers- Model Die Casting has the five-bay rapid-discharge hoppers lettered for UP in HO scale.
