Went for a drive up to Elbe and onto Morton to take pics in the snow, get to Morton, the @#$%! depot is gone! Drove around town a bit, and found it! They moved it this summer sometime and painted it so the Tubafor Lumber co.,(I love that name! ), has more room. They are doin' a booming bussiness up there! Even found a Tacoma Rail freight sitting in Eatonville down the line heading back to Tacoma. Things are looking up for this old railline!
Kurt- They moved it about three months ago. Sorry to see it off the original site. But am happy to know it's preserved! They have a web page: Morton Depot Wish you could dig up some current info for any other business on the line. South of Frederickson, are there any shippers other than the mill in Morton? Boxcab E50
I don't think so. I went from Puyallup all the way trying to follow the tracks as much as possible, and only the one mill. I went over to Western Junction after that, and tried to follow that back to Tacoma, alot of well cars stored there. Down at Maytown, alot of Railbox cars stored there. By the way, the speeder shack AND the little type "D" depot are still there! At "WJ" there was just the AOE sitting there with little else except for the old Alco centercab.
Kurt, sorry, I got a few excursions mixed up. The one today was from Elbe, not Tacoma. Link: http://www.mrsr.com/wintersteam/wintersteam.html
OMG!! Your right, that was today, crap! I was up there yesterday and there is snow for them to run in! Would have been nice pics.
